Phat G. making his First Step

Last May 24, 2010, Patrik Garcia a.k.a. Phat G. released his first solo project, Phat G. First Step Mixtape Vol. 1.

Phat G. is not a newcomer in the music underground/indie scene. He's the guitarist of the Batangas City-based band Failure, that released an EP CD in 2006. The band was also chosen to be part of the internationally released 4-way split CD entitled "Fear the Elements" with other great hardcore bands hailing from Germany, Poland and Japan.

Working with different artists and moving from one genre to another (from hardcore/metal rock to reggae, and finally to hiphop) gave Phat G. the opportunity to learn more about the people and the industry that inspired him more to pursue his dream of creating and sharing his music.

Proud of his being a Batangueño, he collaborated with some of the finest artists in Batangas for this project to make a statement that all we need to do is to take one step at a time to make a difference. Spitting lyrics and verses from his personal experiences, his love for his roots, Batangas or 043 (area code), is also evident in his tracks.

A combination of English and Filipino, the 12 track-album is indeed a fruit of hard labor, patience and perseverance. Notable tracks are "On Tha Mic", "Abot Kamay sa Bawat Himig" and "Kahilingan na Lang Ba?"

The bonus video cd contains teaser for upcoming projects.  With Since Day 1 Movement, Phat G. is hoping to showcase the great talents, the scenes, events, and movements happening not just in Batangas but anywhere in the Philippines.



And for only Php100, this album is highly recommended for your listening pleasure, whether you're hiphop or not.  This is just the first step... one step, one love, one chance.
